WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Don’t be alarmed if you see officers working in the area of Wausau Avenue on Tuesday.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office will host a tactical training exercise from 8 AM to 4 PM in a shed at 508 E Wausau Avenue. The training will involve Specialized Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams and Crisis Negotiation Teams (CNT) from multiple jurisdictions.
Officers note that this is a “planned, routine training exercise” that poses no threat to the community. The training may produce loud noises from tactical equipment and controlled breaching.
These exercises provide “the opportunity to practice critical response capabilities in a controlled, safe environment.”
The shed is scheduled for demolition by the Parks Department later this week.
